The Public Arts Trust, Milton Keynes founders & trustees are:

David Stabler – Founder and Trustee

David studied Architecture at Leeds School of Art, and then worked for 10 years in private practice until 1970 when he joined Milton Keynes Development Corporation [MKDC].  He was project manager and team leader for multi million pound housing, commercial and industrial projects as the city grew.  In the 1980s this role changed when he was appointed to the MKDC Commercial Directorate.  Until 1998 David was Japan Operations Manager for MKDC and then CNT, bringing 60 Japanese company investments to Milton Keynes.  Today David plays an active role as Parish Councillor by challenging the issues facing the cities’ future.

Ian Michie – Chairman, Founder and Trustee

Ian is an experienced manager who has worked as a senior executive for a number of UK Plc’s.  On leaving University, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he originally worked as a Production Engineer.  He soon moved into a senior management role within the Rank Organisation.  Promotion followed with a number of Directorships in various companies across the UK.  He lives in Far Bletchley, having settled there in 1992.  Ian is passionate about the future of Milton Keynes and is active as a Director of Urban Eden – the local lobby group.

Tim Skelton – Trustee

Tim is a chartered surveyor who has lived and worked in Milton Keynes since 1979.

He was Head of Estates for Domino’s Pizza, retiring in 2014  He is a great fan of public art and realised the impact of the city’s collection upon its residents when his 8 year old daughter was drawing up plans for her entry in a children’s “Garden In A Seed Tray” competition at a Flower Show in the village where her grandparents lived. In response to a question “ What’s that squiggle?” , she replied “It’s a sculpture, Daddy. Every garden must contain a sculpture”.

Tim has a particular interest in art of the St Ives School.
